Ladies Section

Why Bletchingley? The Ladies' section at Bletchingley GC is made up of around 80 ladies and represents a cross section of ages and golfing interests.  We cater for the serious golfer with monthly Medals and qualifying Stablefords and inter-club County competitions for all handicap levels.  We also have fun competitions and informal Monday morning roll-ups for those who are more inclined to chat than worry about their handicaps!  New members are always made very welcome and quickly integrated into the section by means of our "godmother" system.

Ladies at Bletchingley share equal rights on the course; Ladies' day is Thursday and there are also dedicated tee times on some weekends.  Most weekends throughout the year there are Club competitions that full 7 day ladies can participate in.  Besides the more serious competitions there are also Ladies and Mixed friendly matches scheduled both during the week and at weekends.

The section organises two short golfing breaks a year, one in the Spring which will be to Thorpeness in 2012, the other in the Autumn which will be to the Isle of Wight in October. There is also an active Bridge section for friendly games throughout the year as well as a Winter league which involves matches against other golf clubs.

The Ladies section is proud to support nominated charities through a mix of bridge, golf and social activities.  Both myself and the Men's Captain, Andrew Rumble, will support the same charity for 2011-2012.  That charity will be Help for Heroes, a relatively new charity but already well known.  It was set up to help those men and women in all three armed services who have been hurt or affected by conflict since 11th September 2001.  They work closely with and provide grants to charities and groups best able to provide the facilities and services they want the men and women of the Armed Forces to have.  One of their biggest achievements so far has been the construction of the £8 million rehabilitation centre at Headley Court.  For more information see www.helpforheroes.org.uk

I think this answers the question, why Bletchingley: a friendly golf club with something to offer everyone!
